The Golden State Open Judo Championships is a premier USA Judo sanctioned national points tournament held annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Founded in 1990 by Guerreros Judo Club, the organization made history in May 2025 as the first group in the nation to host a judo tournament at the LACC, which will serve as the official venue for Olympic judo in 2028. The event doubles as a fundraiser for the Guerreros Athletic Foundation, supporting youth athletes across Southern California. Known for innovation, including being the first U.S. judo tournament to use SmoothComp software, the Golden State Open is celebrated for its efficiency, inclusivity, and competitive excellence.
