When is the scheduled completion of the expansion?
The majority of construction will be complete by Spring 2028. Construction will be paused for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games at the LACC between June and October 2028 to allow for the Games to occur. After the 2028 Games, construction will resume and the project will be complete by Spring 2029.
Will existing events be affected during duration of construction?
The Los Angeles Convention Center will remain fully operational throughout the expansion project. Construction activities will be concentrated primarily behind the existing facility, minimizing disruption to ongoing events. The Convention Center team is committed to collaborating closely with clients and partners to mitigate potential impacts and ensure the highest level of service during this period.
How much space will be added?
Exhibit Halls
193,000 sf of exhibit space will be built over Pico Blvd to bridge the gap between the West and South Halls. Once complete, the Center will feature over 900,000 sf of total exhibit space, of which 750,000 sf will be contiguous exhibit space on Level 1.
Meeting Rooms
LACC’s breakout space will increase by 38,000 sf, bringing the total Meeting Room space to over 140,000sf
Multi-Purpose Space
The new Multi-Purpose Space (MPS) will showcase 98,000 sf of flexible space which can be easily divided into various configurations. The MPS will incorporate pre-function space as well as a roof terrace.
Can the new Roof Terrace be rented for events?
Yes, the Roof Terrace will be available for events, providing an iconic setting with panoramic views of the downtown Los Angeles skyline and the Hollywood Hills, elevating any occasion.
Can the expansion Skynode Atrium be rented for events?
Yes, the Skynode Atrium will offer another unforgettable backdrop for events.
